College Fit Navigator exists to help students and families organize and evaluate college options. We are not affiliated with any college or university, and we do not receive compensation from colleges in exchange for recommending schools.

When you create an account or use our Service, you may provide:

  • Account information — your name and email address (collected through Clerk, our authentication provider)
  • Student profile information — your graduation year, home ZIP code, intended major, sport, preferred school size, budget range, and other college search preferences
  • Saved schools and notes — schools you save to your workspace and any notes or ratings you add
  • Feedback — any feedback or messages you submit through the app

Information We Collect Automatically

When you use our Service, we automatically collect:

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the app
  • Device information — browser type, operating system, and device type
  • Log data — IP address, access times, and referring URLs

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your login session, remember your preferences, and improve the functionality of the Service. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of College Fit Navigator.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share or sell your information with or to colleges, coaches, or recruiters.

  • Service providers — We use third-party services to operate College Fit Navigator, including:

- Clerk (clerk.com) — authentication and account management

- Airtable (airtable.com) — database storage

- Vercel (vercel.com) — application hosting

- Google (Google Drive) — encrypted backup storage for our database, including routine copies of account and profile information

- GitHub (github.com) — backup storage for our school catalog only; no personal information is stored on GitHub

These providers access your information only as necessary to provide their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
  • Business transfers — If College Fit Navigator is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this occurs.

5. Error monitoring

We use Sentry, a third-party service, to capture technical error reports that help us diagnose and fix problems. These reports are scrubbed of personal information — we do not send your name, email, address, or account identifiers to Sentry, only technical details such as the error message, the page, and your browser type.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law. Residual copies of your information may remain in our routine security backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are removed automatically.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information by logging into your account
  • Update your profile information at any time
  • Delete your account and all associated data by using the account deletion feature in Profile, or by contacting us at collegefitnavigator@gmail.com
  • Opt out of non-essential communications by contacting us

If you are a resident of California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion.

8. Children's Privacy

College Fit Navigator is designed for use by students, families, and individuals planning for college. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not use this Service or provide any personal information.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at collegefitnavigator@gmail.com.

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include:

  • Secure authentication through Clerk
  • Access controls limiting who can view your data
